Description
Desire & Prejudice is the debut novel from author Jean-Louis McMillan.
It is a story about two “star-crossed lovers” that is very reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, but with a modern-day, Middle Eastern twist.
Adam suffers from PTSD after witnessing a horrific event while serving in the DGSE (French External Intelligence Agency). He loses his wife and his children and basically his whole life as he buries himself in his work, avoiding women and friends. Then there is Jasmine, his lover, who is recovering from her own trauma—an abusive husband—not to mention she feels suffocated by her “position” in her family as a Muslim divorced woman in. With their traumas between them, their family backgrounds, and their work, Adam & Jasmine are NOT meant to be, and they embark on a dangerous love affair. They travel together, make incredible love to one another, and confide in each other as friends. But they don’t confide everything; they are not inseparable.
Will love be strong enough to keep them together?
