My name is Lynn Murphy and the only thing I ever really wanted to be when I grew up was to be a writer. I have been a teacher for fifteen years, encouraging middle and high school students to create art and inspiring them (hopefully) to develop a love of reading and become better writers. I am married and have two sons who are at the time of this writing in college. When132 I am not writing, I enjoy creating artwork, photography, running, biking, skiing, canoeing….and reading. I am constantly thinking of new ideas for novels. I particularly love writing historical fiction. An accomplishment of which I am particularly proud is being awarded, twice, the Margot Stern Strom Teaching Award from Facing History and Ourselves for excellence in teaching about tolerance and the Holocaust. I am a bit of an art history nerd, love sushi and avocados, and drive my family crazy listening to Cole Porter and Broadway tunes while I write. My favorite quote, which I have hanging on the wall of my office is by C.S. Lewis, ” Someday you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.” I also have to agree with Thomas Jefferson, “I cannot live without books.”
